This is a vintage pocket compass. An English, brass navigation instrument in the manner of Stanley of London, dating to the late 20th century.
- Pleasingly weathered and of miniature fascination
- Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
- Polished and tarnished brass case offers shimmering tones
- Lid decorated with an engraved tall ship motif and the mark 'Stanley, London 1885'
- Clear, bright dial with a face diameter of 2.5cm (1")
- Displaying cardinal and intercardinal points, the needle accentuated with red paint
- The screw cap lid inscribed to the reverse with the poem 'Inner and Outer Time' by Jean Barlow Hudson
- Screw mount to the rear of the compass offers a safe haven for the lid during use
