This is an early Victorian sewing work table dating to c.1850.åÊ
The rosewood is a real treat on this stunning work box which is rich in hues of warm russet browns with inky black grain detail.åÊ
The surface sits atop a swagged frieze with turned droplet finials. The flared, octagonal trumpet mounted above a vasiform turned column carried by three cabriole legs with scrolled toes and carved knees around an inverted finial.
The hinged lid retains the original lock and key and lifting reveals the stunning compartmentalised interior with silk lids to the central, deep recess and three of the larger pocketed compartments.
Superb quality and a stunning piece presented in good antique condition. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed & polished ready for the home.
