Pair of Antique Dining Chairs, Victorian after Chippendale
Our Stock # LFA-1432
This is an antique pair of Victorian dining chairs dating to c.1900.
Crafted in generous stock of dense mahogany with a dark finish this robust pair of chairs are a Victorian interpretation of Chippendale's 18th century designs.
Raised on cabriole legs to the front featuring carved acanthus leaves to the knees and terminating in ball and claw feet, the rear legs, by contrast, are swept and flared.
The oblique stiles rise into a shaped crest rails with carved ears flanking the shallow carved swag detail embellishing the splat crest mount. The pierced back splats carved and dressed with a central swag.
Traditionally stuffed, the drop in seats are currently upholstered differently with one displaying a floral needlepoint and the other a satin striped cloth. These are easily recovered to suit any taste.
A super pair of revival chairs, solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
