This is a French antique etagere, a kingwood side table or nightstand retailed by Druce & Co., London in the late 19th century, circa 1870.
- Superior craftsmanship in the finest timbers
- Rich, warm honey hues to the select kingwood
- The quarter veneered top with floral spray marquetry
- Framed in an inlaid foliate scroll border, cross-banded to the perimeter
- A brass band finishes the overhanging top
- A single, shaped frieze drawer dressed with ornate, pierced brass handle
- The side panels similarly decorated with marquetry inlay
- Raised on elegant, sinuous cabriole legs
- The knees and feet adorned with cast brass appliqué and sabots
- A similarly decorated under-tier unites the legs
A superb French antique etagere with solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed polished and ready for the home.
