This is an antique washstand. An English, mahogany and marble pot cupboard or night stand, with inset bowl, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850. 

• Captivating example with appealing form and wonderfully appointed
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
• Select stocks present fine grain interest and deep russet hues
• Inset marble top with creamy white hues and light grey vein interest

• Tiered circular lid opens to reveal a generously sized wash bowl
• Fascinating print to bowl depicts two women with ornate patterns to rim
• In original condition, the bowl presents some minor historic repair works
• Maker's mark to rear for Athena pattern by UM & T with registered design mark for 1852 - D code

• Superb curvature to the opening door, dressed with a white enamel pull
• Opens to reveal a useful cupboard with shaped storage shelf
• Raised upon a stout circular plinth foot with broad collar
