This is an antique two draw telescope. An English, mahogany and brass refractor for terrestrial or astronomical use, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1850.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
- In the manner of the contemporary 'day or night' telescope by Dollond, but unmarked as such
- Quality optics present a clear, sharp performance
- Broad mahogany primary barrel in good order with fine grain interest and colour
- The whole draws with a pleasingly firm action and nicely engineered feel
- Generously sized 40mm (1.5") objective sits behind a removable, sliding dust cap
- Flared eyecup to rear with slide type dust cover
- Supplied with a London Fine oak and brass 'Captain's Stand' for display
