Antique Telescope, WW1 Ross Signal Scope
Our Stock # R0694
This is an antique telescope dating to c.1915.
A fine example of a high quality optical instrument made by Ross of London in the early twentieth century for use in World War One as a signal or sighting scope.
Rare to find without cross hairs and lamp extrusion, the 60mm objective lens is shrouded within a sun shade and displays a clear, crisp image. The original lens cap protecting it when not in use.
The scope is focused by twisting the smaller knurled ring which extends the eyepiece tube. The larger knurled ring is engraved with 'TWIST THIS TO CHANGE POWER'... Twisting removes the optics.
Further engraving reads '49319 ROSS LONDON, Patent' and the numbers '7' & '6' next to a mark.
A fine telescope, robustly engineered.
Dimensions:
Length: 79cm (31")
