This is a super example of a French antique side table, or gueridon, in the cross-over from Directorie to Empire styles of the early 19th century circa 1815.
- Choice cuts of mahogany displaying good colour and grain detail
- Ovular in form with dish moulding to upper tier
- Lower gallery offering generous display space
- Wide frieze to both tiers in good proportion to one another and the whole
- Ebonised Corinthian half-columns with brass capitals and bases
- Raised on later stout four claw, hairy paw feet
A fine example of pared down neo-classicism. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
