This is a rare antique ship's clinometer. An English, heavy brass maritime instrument by H. Hughes & Son of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
- Delightful nautical instrument to indicate the pitch and roll of a ship
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Heavy brass frame presents attractive golden tones
- Large spirit level sits pleasingly within the centre of the frame
- Annotated from the centreline of 0 degrees outwards to 45 degrees plus and minus
- Quality vernier adjustment dial sits to the right hand side of the level
- Engraved model name reads 'Col. C.P. Evelyn's Patented Ships' Clinometer'
- Colonel Evelyn was a member of the Royal Thames Yacht Club in the late 19th century
- Further engraved with H. Hughes & Son, Ltd. 59 Fenchurch Street, London
- Trio of mounting points for ease of fastening to the bulkhead or wall
This is a superb and rare antique ship's clinometer, with copious maritime interest. In working order and presenting a clear appearance. As good to observe today as it was over a hundred years ago. Delivered polished and ready to enjoy.
