This is an antique school sampler. An English, needlepoint pupil's embroidery display, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1884.
- Charming sampler, showing a deft hand from the 9 year old pupil
- Displays a desirable aged patina within a later, quality frame
- Cotton embroidery presents an appealing colour palette
- Dressed to the rear with hanging wire for ease of mounting
- Embroidered alphabet in block letters and cursive, with numbers below
- Appears to list the initials of each pupil within Elizabeth Bell's class
- Whitley Chapel School continues in the Hexham area of Northumberland
- Accentuated with foliate detail to the decorative border
