Antique Refectory Table, Low Work Table c1800
Our Stock # 10.1447
This is an antique refectory table dating to the beginning of the 19th century.
Raised on beautifully carved baluster legs united by an 'H' stretcher and resting upon bun feet, this piece offers a solid and stable surface ideal as a serving table, hall table or perhaps a sewing table with it's slightly lower than normal height.
The deep relief carving to the legs display rosettes to the lower square sections and foliate cups and caps separated by simple ring turnings.
The planked top displays wonderful grain detail in the deep, rich tones of the English oak and carries all the hallmarks of a life in service with a sought after patina and colour.
The pegged joints offer solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
