This is an antique plant stand, a carved Chinese side table, torchere or pedestal in hardwood dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910.
- Profusely carved with a dark, wax, polished finish
- Classic oriental styling in good proportion
- Useful size for both display or as a sofa companion
- Broad top framed with a band of foliate carving
- Pinched above a generous, pierced frieze
- Carved with abstract billowing clouds and foliate fans
- Raised on stout, tapering cabriole legs
- Carved in the form of dragons rising
- United by a lower tier stretcher and standing upon scrolled feet
