Antique Oak Bureau, c.1800
Our Stock # LFA-1212åÊ
This is a fabulous serpentine bureau/writing desk dating to c.1800.
Rising on flat bun feet, the serpentine nature of this piece is rare to find and extremely well executed in solid, quarter sawn oak displaying a rich honey colour with aged patina and features the original iron handles.
The smooth running drawers, arranged in a straight 3 configuration, are dressed with solid brass, triple bat wing furniture complete with original locks and key.
Of generous proportion the bureau is hugely practical and ideal for regular use with the desk height at a comfortable 69cm (27.25"). The fall features a geometric inset moulding with working lock and opens to reveal an oak writing surface backed by 12 shaped drawers arranged around a typical centre cupboard. Inside the cupboard are two further drawers.
Solidly jointed and robust, a simply lovely item in very good condition and a piece to be welcomed into any location. Delivered waxed, polished & ready for the home.
