This is an antique hanging dinner gong. An English, brass and oak decorative mount, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.
- Of wonderful form and superb craftsmanship
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Oak back rest displays fine grain interest with wisps of medullary rays
- Adorned with a striking lion's head mask with a pair of hanging arms
- Quality brass gong decorated with fascinating engraved pattern of Indian taste
- Gong sits upon the back rest with a leather hanging loop
- Lower rest holds the leather-covered striking mallet neatly
- Maker's mark to rear for William Tonks & Sons, Birmingham
