This is an antique two piece chest of drawers. An English, oak bedroom or hall tallboy cabinet, dating to the William III period of the late 17th century, circa 1700.
- Fascinating example of late 17th century furniture
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good antique order
- Select oak shows fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays
- Mellow caramel hues beneath a wax polish finish
- Arranged as a suite of two small drawers over three graduated, of full width
- Each drawer front with cockbeaded frieze in alternate, bold forms
- Dressed with small brass drop handles, decorated as acorns with crosshatch engravings
- Pierced brass lock escutcheons with figural masques over inset locks — keys absent
- Two piece cabinet for ease of movement, the upper sitting neatly against the base
- Rolled edge to the mid point, intersecting the pairs of drawers
- Tiered lower apron sits above a quartet of squat bun fee
