This is an antique copy of The Insect by Jules Michelet. An English language, hard bound study of nature, dating to the Victorian period, this first edition published in 1875.
Published posthumously, The Insect chronicles the natural study of insects by Jules Michelet (1798 - 1874) and is one of four such works. Combining poetry and philosophy, The Insect is beautifully illustrated by collaborator Hector Giacomelli (1822 - 1904) a French watercolorist and engraver, renowned for his works with bird life.
