R. Tyzack Ltd, Slater Street, High Wycombe
Starting out as a saw maker, Henry Tyzack moved from Sheffield to Old Street, Shoreditch in 1839 where he stayed for 30 years before settling in High Wycombe. Henry had many children with his wife Sarah before dying in 1876.
In 1907 R. Tyzack set up a furniture factory producing fine quality dining chairs, upholstered items and occasional tables until the outbreak of World War I when they were commissioned by the government to produce aircraft parts.
After the war, in 1920, he incorporated a limited company, R. Tyzack Ltd, turning their focus to office furniture; Producing desk and chairs with an emphasis on quality craftsmanship. Something noted by the post war Government who contacted them to furnish many of their departments.
They continued to trade into the middle of the 20th century until they were taken over in 1966.
