Famed for his various inventions under the Trade Marked banner 'Literary Machines', John Carter was a Victorian inventor / cabinet maker operating out of 6A Cavendish Street, Portland Place, London from the 1880's.
Carter produced all manner of reading tables, chairs, couches, beds and bath chairs, many specifically aimed at wounded soldiers. Winning 20 gold medals and awards, Carter was maker to The Queen (Victoria), Prince of Wales and Emperors of Russia and Germany having gained a reputation for quality.
