This is an antique, Victorian set of four, dining chairs dating to aesthetic movement period, c.1890.
The mellow hues of the walnut frames compliment the beautiful design elements and proportions of these chairs.
Raised on tapered, turned front legs and swept rear legs the subtle, elegant bowed seat rails support the traditional stuff over seats, currently upholstered in a green damask fabric trimmed with green braid which under close inspection seat coverings showing marks consistent with age & use.
The rear stiles flare into the arced crest rail which is carved with swag decoration and surmounted by a carved, mirrored scroll, stylised rosettes bulging gently at the ears.
The square section splats mount a central, ovular, pierced carving featuring walnut detail.
A fine example with solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
