This is an antique cased microscope. An English, black enamel scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
- Nicely presented and appealing scientific instrument, ideal for display

- Enamelled metal body in striking black, with highly contrasting polished brass
- Mahogany carry box shows rich caramel hues and benefits from a working lock — key present
- Extendable eyepiece tube with a rack and pinion main focus guide
- Slide stage dressed with a pair of rotary clips and annotated with a grid scale
- Single objective mounted to the scope with a pair of accessory lenses within the box
- Bright mirror beneath the slide holder, mounted on a rotating arm
- Maker's mark in crisp white paint for J. Swift & Son, London
- The scope fits neatly within the carry case with segmented compartments for further accessories
- Matched J. Swift lenses present in striking golden casings
- Trio of glass slides and a box of later Rotring ink wells included
