This is a vintage stereoscope bar parallax. An English, brass scientific instrument for measuring depth in aerial photographs or maps, by JM Glauser & Sons of London, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1950.
- Pleasingly complete mid-century instrument
- Displaying a desirable aged patina
- Quality brass and glass presenting well
- Wooden case with emerald green baize lining
- Adjustable vernier to one end with a pair of glass slides
- Raised upon a bar platform, for situating above photographs
- Used by the military for gauging depth of land from aerial photography
- Replete with a pair of unwrapped spare glass slides, a measuring slide and pair of tools
- The case dressed with a pair of latches to each side and a brass lined lock — key absent
- Leather carry handle on loop hinges to centre
- Brass plaque to fore stating the instrument name and engraved for a G. Rollins
- The bar parallax engraved with the maker's name, broadarrow 'pheon' and serial number 1520
