This is an antique decorative flagon. An English, ceramic and silver art pottery jug by Arthur Barlow for Doulton, dating to the Victorian period, hallmarked 1871.
Of collector interest, Arthur Barlow (1845 - 1879) was resident at Doulton's Lambeth studio in the years 1871-1876, the flagon displaying his distinctive aesthetic.
- Fascinating early example of Barlow's short residency with the renowned Doulton studio
- Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
- Ceramic presents a subdued cream coloured ground in bulbous form
- Lift-top flagon lid in patinated Sterling Silver with hallmark
- Hand engraved monogram to base for Arthur Barlow and Doulton Lambeth mark
- Hallmarks to lid show the initials for George Fenwick of Edinburgh
- Also displaying the Lion Rampant and the London assay office date letter Q for 1871
