This is a small antique calligrapher's quill pot. A Chinese, rouge soapstone carved pen holder, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

Intricate pierced detail accentuates the colourful form
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order

Octagonal body with ornate star detail to each fascia
Raised upon a tiered footing in contrasting dark grey
