This is a pair of antique hall chairs. A Scottish, oak seat in Arts & Crafts taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.

- Quality quarter-sawn oak presents fine grain interest with wisps of medullary rays
- Superb caramel hues radiate from beneath a quality wax polish finish
- Highly distinctive shaped seat backs exude master craftsmanship
- Demi-lune upper rail with rolled edge and carved border decoration
- Shield form with a carved arm holding a sea shell over a pierced quarterfoil
- Over the open back splat, a pair of foliate patera in the Gothic manner
- Wide, flat seat squab set at a comfortable height of 45cm (17.75'')
- Sash shaped aprons framed within prominent block shoulders
- Skilfully crafted front legs boast bulb carvings over tapering octagonal legs with bun feet
- Gently swept rear legs with square section feet
