This is an antique cheese carrying box. An English, oak garden produce tray or work box, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.
- Generously sized box, ideal for carrying large truckles of cheese or garden produce
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
- Select oak stocks show fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays
- Rich caramel hues add distinction alongside the tapering trapezoidal form
- Gently raised sections to each end with shaped butler's grasp
- Appealing chip craved detail to corners with traditional hand-cut nails
