This is an antique fireside pole screen. An English, rosewood and needlepoint tapestry adjustable shield, dating to the William IV period, circa 1835.
- Excellent William IV craftsmanship, offering ideal decoration for the fireside
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Select stocks show fine grain interest and deep russet hues
- Quality needlepoint set within a shield-shaped frame
- Riser pole adorned with a small carved finial, set within a brass collar
- Distinctive frame, pinched to corners and centre with scroll shell relief
- Panel embroidered with a foliate bouquet, in subtle pastel hues
- Dressed to rear with light yellow silk cotton, accentuated with brocade trim
- Adjustable screen height, can be set within a range of 83cm (32.75")
- Moves up and down upon a pair of sliding brass collars
- Pole set within a tapering gadrooned mount above a striking petal base
- Standing upon a trio of shaped bracket feet with turned-up toes
