This is an antique carved folio stand. A Burmese, teak folding gentleman's newspaper rack, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
- Excellent craftsmanship with striking carved detail
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in superb order
- Select stocks show fine grain interest and deep russet hues
- Enthusiastically decorated with skilful carvings and delicate fretwork
- Prominent top rail presenting a pair of elephants framed with decorative finials
- Fascia host chased foliate patterns, the fall front with a seated deity relief holding the fronds
- Shaped fall articulates downwards, held securely with a brass chain stay
- Pierced fretwork brackets add a distinguished touch to the lower stand
- Raised upon splayed square section legs to each corner
- The whole folds away for ease of carriage in the campaign manner
