This is an antique correspondence box. An English, aged leather travelling writing case in the manner of Asprey, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
- Appealing Victorian leather writing box, with fascinating colour
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
- Patination to the quality leather, remnants of the original green tanning visible
- Leather interior resplendent in the original green hue
- Lid dressed with an inset brass carry handle and gold tooled C.B. monogram
- Opens to reveal a tray insert with three compartments
- Inset tray removable to access a useful, second storage space
- The lid reverse hosts an X-shaped leather document holder
- Finished with a polished brass Bramah lock — untested, key absent
- Unmarked as such, but the colour and quality redolent of Asprey of London
This is a delightful antique correspondence box, with an appealingly patinated leather outer and rich green interior. A treat for the desktop. Delivered ready for the home or on voyage.
