This is an antique carved lion figure. An English, giltwood decorative desk or mantle ornament, dating to the mid Georgian period, circa 1750.

Charmingly original lion, with lovely colour and good detail
Displays a desirable aged patina and in original order, save for his cropped tail
A rare and interesting Georgian carving, delightfully executed by a fine craftsman
The distinctive giltwood form presents fine golden tonality
Bold face and prominent mane, the mouth accentuated in red
Standing upon a trapezoid shaped base, with leather protective pad
