This is an antique Gothic Revival hall chair. A Scottish, oak baronial reception seat, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.
- Of superb Gothic appearance and excellent proportion
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Select oak presents fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
- Classic side chair, ideal for a reception hall or dressing table
- Dome top crest rail between a pair of turned finials
- Upper accentuated with a carved foliate medallion
- Back rest adorned with a trio of arcade panels
- Fascinating buttress sides host inlaid relief forms and scroll motif
- Comfortable, flat seat squab at a useful height of 48cm (19")
- Knees finished with stylish cross icons, in an ecclesiastical manner
- Turned and cupped front legs ride smoothly upon coasters
- Canted rear legs fall away gently from the back rest
