This is a large antique hall settle. An Italian, pine and walnut bench or pew with Oriental taste, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Imposing in proportion and carved detail, ideal for the grand reception hall
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Pine and walnut stocks show fine grain interest throughout
• Presents rich caramel hues beneath a quality wax polish finish

• Prominent surmount hosts a field panel with galleried rail to either side
• Further accentuated with ball finials, carved beading and foliate patera
• Large decorative panels to the back stand with relief carved dragon heads and scrolled foliage
• Impressive brackets with dragon head forms reinforce the Oriental overtones

• Seat base with inset lid decorated with demi-lune carvings to the rolled edge
• Useful storage area set within the wide seat base
• Corbel brackets frame a pair of carved field panels to centre
• The whole standing upon a quartet of squat bun feet beneath a stout apron
