This is an antique decorative finery box. An English, rosewood and silk cotton jewellery box, dating to the late Regency period, circa 1830.
- Bold keepsake box with a striking silk cotton lining
- Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
- Select stocks present superb figuring and rich caramel hues
- Distinctive sarcophagus form, the body tapering towards and away from the lid edge
- Fascinating watercolour still life adorns the lid
- Dressed to the fascia with a shaped brass lock escutcheon — key absent
- A shock of saffron yellow silk cotton finishes the interior, with tightly ruched folds
