This is an antique dog kennel club medal. A German, cast metal Dachshund breed award in carry case, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
The Deutscher Teckel-Klub is the German kennel club for the loveable Dachshund, or as it's colloquially known, the sausage dog. Formed in 1887, and currently headquartered in the Western city of Duisberg, the club awarded medals for the best of breed.
Established in 1778 in the titular Bavarian town of Schrobenhausen, the Carl Poellath Mint and Stamping Works is one of Germany's leading mints. Specialists in club medals and uniform badges, their clients include Bugatti and Lufthansa; historically, the company created commemorative coins for events including the 1936 Summer Olympics.
