This is an antique campaign chest. An English, camphorwood storage box or trunk, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

Beautifully presented chest with fine figuring
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Camphorwood stocks present fine grain interest
The whole basking in light caramel hues beneath the wax polish finish

Stout lid dressed with an inset brass scallop pull and unmarked plaque to top
Opens to reveal the strikingly clean storage compartment
Brass caps to corners add reassuring stability to the trunk
Pair of brass drop handles to the ends, with a shield lock escutcheon to fascia — key absent
